Our client is a well-established, global company that designs and manufactures a broad array of products and services for the aerospace and defense industry.  A leader in composite design and manufacturing, our client has an immediate open position for a Senior Advanced Fiber Placement Engineer.  This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot advance fiber placement (AFP) machine issues
  • Define part qualification plans, conveyance and tool strings
  • Standardize AFP processes, machine settings, and material characteristics
  • Generate and maintain AFP process, PFMEA, risk matrix, and spare parts list
  • Initiate process improvement focused on cycle time reduction, machine efficiency and defect reduction



  • Engineering Degree
  • 15 years related experience
  • MINIMUM 10 years’ experience working with and maintaining/troubleshooting 7-axis AFP machines
  • Expertise in room set up, process flow, troubleshoot
  • Familiarity with the mechanics of AFP machines, compaction rollers, bi-directional tensioners, laser-based heating methods
  • Experience with rotating mandrel systems, fiber delivery systems, laminators, or similar
  • Must have extensive experience with manufacturing of composite structures and materials
  • Knowledge of CATIA v5 and FiberSIM
  • Knowledge of root cause/corrective action processes and techniques
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to include product demonstration/presentation
  • Previous experience with aerospace specifications and requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen
